Dear Wake Forest community,

On Monday, August 12, After-Action Review Committee co-chairs Arjun (Raja) Chatterjee and Corey D. B. Walker shared the final report of their Committee’s findings and recommendations with me. Earlier today, they provided this report to the campus community and published it on the Committee website.

I accept the Committee’s four recommendations, and I have invited the Committee co-chairs to discuss the report with the University Cabinet. We will identify and adopt administrative actions that are responsive to the recommendations and desire for continual improvement. Updates to the campus community will be provided next week through Inside WFU and campus newsletters.

I am deeply grateful to the Committee members for their important work and the extraordinary commitment of their time over the summer to complete their charge. I am also thankful to the faculty, staff, students, and administrators who volunteered to participate in the review and share their perspectives.

Freedom of expression and academic freedom, including the right to demonstrate, are foundational to our academic mission. I am confident that the Committee’s recommendations will further improve how the University prepares for and responds to future demonstrations.

Sincerely,

Susan R. Wente
